Freezer Repair
Freezer columns and freezer drawers fail quietly — the food tells you before the display does. We work through defrost heaters and thermistors, evaporator fans, drain lines that have iced over, and drawer rails that have gone out of true.
Flat $95 service call — covers the visit and the diagnosis, and comes off the total if you approve the repair.
The complaints, in the caller's words
- Frost sheeting over the back wall and across the ice bin
- Freezer section running warm while the compressor sounds normal
- Drawer freezing shut or dragging on its rails
- Water pooling and refreezing at the bottom of the compartment
What is actually measured
- Defrost cycle followed through, heater and terminator both proved
- Drain line traced for ice, and the trough it drains into
- Evaporator airflow at the vents with the compartment loaded as you use it
- Drawer rails, runners and the seal along the bottom edge

Why this repair goes the way it does

-
Refrigeration only
Columns, drawers, undercounter units and wine storage. No ranges, no laundry — one family of appliances, worked on every day.
-
Readings before parts
Suction and discharge pressures, evaporator and condenser temperatures, defrost circuit resistance. A part is ordered because a number says so.
-
Salt air is part of the job
Condensers on the peninsula load up with salt and grit far faster than they do inland, and a fan motor seizes years earlier for it. Both get looked at on every call.
-
Panels come off carefully
Integrated units live inside cabinetry that was built around them. Trim, hinges and toe kicks are removed and refitted, not levered.

The causeway was flooded at high tide so he rerouted and still made the window. A fan blade had cracked and was clipping the shroud. Quick swap, and he checked the door seal while he was in there.

Called after a March storm knocked our power out for two days. The unit came back up but never got cold again. He traced it to a failed defrost control rather than the sealed system, which was a relief.

Lower section running warm although the unit sounded entirely normal. He found the defrost thermostat stuck and a drain iced over behind the liner. Two hours, clean work, and he took the packaging away with him.
